Emergency Incident Management - History, Purpose and Current Practice

The Seminar took place on April 17,2015.

The seminar was about the methods currently used by responders to maintain control and communications at incidents deemed emergency by those needing assistance. The seminar began by identifying the need and history of incident management and also explained the incident command structure used by emergency responders, and the National Incident Management system and what private and public institutions can expect should an event occur at their location.

The seminar was presented by Chief Herrera who has thirty years of experience as an emergency responder. He specializes in managing larger,complex incidents, including large fires hurricane preparedness and response, major sporting event preparedness, and natural manmade disasters. He also teaches Incident management -- internally as well as to outside agencies. Chief Herrera continues to respond to complex emergencies and covers up to 320 square miles (half) of Houston.
